Andy Forch, Huckberry Co-Founder and Co-CEO here, dropping in with a special issue of the Huckberry mailer. Today, I’ll be sharing a "Rundown" of my favorite gear, movies, books, and a bunch more that I hope will inspire your next great idea or adventure.

One for the money, two for the show…

My Go-To Jacket This Season: Our Flannel-lined Waxed Trucker is a top-seller for a reason, but I personally prefer the new James Waxed Snap Jacket. It’s a slightly more modern take on the traditional waxed trucker, and it reminds me of one of my all-time favorite jackets from the big screen—the one Daniel Craig wore in Quantum of Solace.

Home Goals: We started a show called "Huckberry Homes" because we thought there wasn’t enough inspiring home content for guys. Think less focus on marble sinks, and more on cold plunges, saunas, and gear garages. My two favorite episodes so far are Jason McCarthy, the founder of GORUCK, and Steve Rinella, the founder of MeatEater. Both of these guys have such a strong sense of what constitutes a great life, and I love how they’ve set up their homes to make that vision a reality.

Favorite Adventure This Year: To celebrate my 40th birthday, Huckberry Co-founder, Richard, and I along with a few other friends rented a 50-foot sailboat with The Moorings company, and sailed and spearfished our way around the Exumas. Other highlights included exploring the James Bond Thunderball Grotto in Staniel Cay (ask Richard about it sometime) and Pablo Escobar’s island. We hooked the guys up with the Wellen Airweave Performance Shirt, Sol Tee, and Performance Swim Short, and basically lived in them the whole trip. Next year we’re going to do the Abacos Islands.

30,000 Days: The average human life is about 80 years, approximately 30k days. Since turning 40, I’ve felt a tremendous sense of urgency to not just live a good life, but a great life. To me, that means living the life I want to live and prioritizing trips with family and friends. Spearfishing the Bahamas. Exploring the back alleys of Tokyo. Skiing the Utah backcountry. Luckily, two of those listed above were—as my wife would say with an eye roll—“work trips.” I only have 15,000 days left—LFG!

Huckberry’s Most Important Launch Ever: Okay, maybe that sounded a little dramatic, but HB Fit might be the most impactful program in our history. Over the years, we’ve acquired and started multiple House Brands like Flint and Tinder, Wills, Wellen, and PROOF. Now, for the first time ever, we’ve standardized the fit on pants and shorts across all House Brands—so if you prefer an Athletic Tapered fit, you can now order your same dialed size in your favorite denim, workwear pant, adventure pant, et al. HB Fit is the bedrock of our One Stop Men’s Shop promise and no one else is doing this in the menswear space!

A New Passion: Vintage watches, man. I don’t know how it happened…maybe it was having kids or turning 40. For whatever reason, my mind latched onto vintage mechanical tool watches this past year, and I can’t put the genie back in the bottle. They’re the love child of design, engineering, and history; it’s cool that you can pass one onto your kids and say, “My life powered this watch, now it’s your turn.” I also love how these tool watches were so purpose-built—the early Fifty Fathoms for divers, the Speedmaster for astronauts (which famously saved the lives of the astronauts on Apollo 13—with the digital systems unavailable, the astronauts used their Speedies to time the 14 second thruster burns to get back into orbit), and the GMTs for pilots. For my 40th, I purchased a 1965 Rolex 1675 Gilt Faded Pepsi GMT from Curtis and the crew at Grey and Patina. A 60-year-old watch like this doesn’t just tell the time, it serves as a reminder of the (hopefully) 15,000 days I have left!

Huckberry Georgetown: I’m sort of burying the lede here, but we’re opening our first permanent retail store in Georgetown, Washington D.C. in Q1 of 2025! We’ve moved a little slower on opening retail doors than we were hoping (cough: hard lessons learned in permitting), but the pace is about to accelerate now that we have Sam—who previously led Bonobos’ stores—leading retail for us. Sam will have the environment and experience dialed. For some inside baseball, we took inspiration for our checkout from the bar at Equipment Room here in Austin. We also want to create a secret “Champagne Room” that is lined floor to ceiling with Miller High Lifes that are backlit, which our CFO Cullen called “inadvisable.” What do you think—good idea? Bad idea? Great idea?
